The 9th Annual Empty Bowls
The 9th annual Empty Bowls event will be held on April 17 at Christ United Methodist Church in Chestertown. All proceeds from the evening are donated to the work of Community Food Pantry. Dedicated potters from RiverArts Clay Studio create beautiful bowls.
Everyone who attends chooses a bowl and then is served delicious homemade soup, bread and cookies. Dave Menzie from the Pantry Board will speak about the impact of the Pantry in the community.
Besides the Clay Studio, other sponsors are Kent County Arts Council, Bookplate, MassoniArt, Mimi’s Closet, Peaceful World Enterprise, and Welcome Home.
SOUP-ER BOWL 2019
The annual Soup-er Bowl Event at Kent County High School, an Empty Bowls Project, is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 4:30-7:00 at Kent County High School. It is presented by the Art Honor Society students and the art department under the leadership of Mrs. Stephanie Spencer.
Stephanie Spencer, Chair of the Fine Arts Department at the High School, educated her students about the degree of hunger in Kent County. Her students have learned about the work of the Community Food Pantry whose goal is that “no one goes to bed hungry in Kent County.” The students created pottery bowls that will be used used to serve a delicious meal of homemade soup, bread and dessert, prepared and donated by friends and family. Each person who attends purchases a ticket for $12 takes home an empty bowl as a reminder of the hunger in our County. All the proceeds benefit the Community Food Pantry in Kent County. Once again the Food Pantry will gratefully accept this donation made possible by the time and talents of students and faculty at our local High School. A special thank you also goes to the parents, teachers, and local restauranteurs who made and donated the soups.
Reservations are requested 410-778-4540.
The 8th Annual Empty Bowls (Event Notice)
The 8th annual Empty Bowls will take place on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 105 N. Mill Street. Chestertown RiverArts Clay Studio hosts this popular community event that raises funds for the Kent County Food Pantry. Artists from the Clay Studio, headed by instructor Marilee Schumann, create individual beautiful pottery bowls. Each guest choses a bowl which is then filled with homemade soup. These bowls are then taken home as a reminder that many people do not have enough food to eat.
Additional sponsors are Kent County Arts Council, Bookplate, Massoni Art, Mimi’s Closet, Peaceful World Enterprise and Welcome Home.
As a result of all these efforts and the generous people who attend, the pantry receives a very large donation to help continue our work of feeding the hungry.
Two sewings: 5:00 and 6:30 pm. Adults $25, students and children $10. Reserve tickets at 410-778-6300 or online at www.chestertownriverarts.org.
